The modern workplace is constantly evolving, and the intranet is no exception. In 2023, we can expect to see a number of exciting trends in the world of corporate intranets, which many service providers will be looking to incorporate into their intranet offerings. In this blog, I will run through the 4 top trends we envisage that will likely be carried right through 2023 as technology continues to advance.

#1 AI & Machine Learning

The first trend we see that is gaining momentum is the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning to improve the functionality of intranets.

By using these technologies, organisations can automate many of the tasks that are currently performed manually, such as content curation and user support. It’s more common now to see the use of AI to make it easy for organisations to create and manage business processes, whilst Microsoft 365 offers a range of powerful tools and services, we are keen to see how that can be improved with AI.

#2 Chatbots & Virtual Assistants

Another trend that is likely to continue gaining popularity as we feel it did not quite leave its mark on 2022, is the use of chatbots and virtual assistants.

These tools can help to improve communication and collaboration within the organisation by providing employees with quick and easy access to the information they need. We would like to see more advancements made on this type of functionality which without doubt can be hugely improvised with the addition of AI and machine learning.

Microsoft's Power Virtual Agents is a low-code solution that can build powerful chatbots. Learn more about Power Virtual Agents here.

#3 Design & Customisation

Additionally, we can expect to see a greater emphasis on personalisation and customisation in the design of intranets.

By using data and analytics, organisations can tailor the intranet experience to the individual needs and preferences of each user, making it more intuitive and easier to use. Percy Intranet, for instance, allows organisations to create custom homepages and navigation menus that are tailored to the specific needs of their employees with user targeting.

#4 Security & Data Protection

Finally, the last trend we see is going to be focussed on security and data protection.

As organisations continue to store more and more sensitive information on their intranets, it is essential that they have robust security measures in place to protect this data from unauthorised access. Microsoft 365, for example, offers a range of security features and tools that can help organisations to keep their data safe and secure.

Overall, the future of the corporate intranet looks bright, with a number of exciting trends on the horizon. By using the latest technologies and adopting a user-centric approach, organisations can create intranets that are more efficient, effective, and enjoyable to use. Percy Intranet and Microsoft 365 are just two examples of the tools and services that can help organisations to achieve this.
